“Dear Vladimir,

Thank you for sending the images of the rare and interesting
“Adlocutio” antoninianus of Probus. This variety of obverse certainly
seems to be unrecorded in the standard works of reference and I am glad
to have seen it. I have noted its existence for possible future
publication in one of my forthcoming books.

With kindest regards,
David”

“Vladimir,
Fabulous coin!
Your coin is not in our photofile or on two I checked.
Indeed none of those three sources had any Adlocutio antoniniani all!
….
Yours,
Curtis Clay”

“Hi Vladimir,

this is a great coin. I collect and study 3rd century coins for my Roman interests. I have never seen one of these. Karl Pink, whose studies are still valid for the later 3rd century coinage, places this issue at the end of 278 AD. His study does not give any numbering, so I cannot reference it further. Also, while it confirms a match with your obverse legend, the obverse type is not noted.
Regardless of everything, this is a VERY RARE coin.
Great catch!

Best,
Brad”
