Repost.
First of all this is just a theory of mine, so please don't jump to conclusions and try to bear with me. This theory is based on what I see in this section. The percentage of young Black people who prefer to date inter-racially is significantly higher than those of other groups based on the users in this section. I'm not the only one who notices this, but I am not here to make people feel bad about it. I'm just trying to find out why other Blacks find people of their own race so undesirable compared to other races put in the same situation. Let me choose a demographic. Black, ages 13-21.
We know that the power and influence of the media has increased astronomically in recent years. More people are spending less time outdoors or reading and spending more time in front of a TV and a computer screen. I use this fact, the images displayed in the media, and some young Black people in this section to help shed more light on this theory.
Example: Black girl. Age 15. Favorite channels on TV. Disney and BET. Let's see how drastically different the images she comes across are.
I'm not making this an absolute situation, but it is clear that the media today, or Channel Zero as I like to call it (Chuck D coin phrase) for the most part shows Black culture and practices in a much more negative light. What are young Black people (particularly girls) thinking when they see this? They see a young White kid treating his woman like a queen and they see a young Black man treated women like meat.
Do these images contribute to what young Black people today see as the "ideal" companion. Are the young Black men who are poisoned by these images pressured to imitate them? While losing the love and admiration of decent young Black girls in the process?
Feedback is much appreciated.
