Can anybody help identify this 1793 coin? The front has the date visible, a crest of some kind in the middle...I can see the word 'PENNY"
The back has centered a Quartered Heart with a cross on top and the letters
E V I & G, one each of the four quartered sections. Please see scans.

Hi,
Showing the kids old coins my wife and I had, my wife had two very old worn coins. Having given the first a brutal acid bath (ouch.I hear you all say, but even the date had gone), that turned out to be a 1797 george third penny, we think! The other, which is the same as yours after meeting Mr. Sulphuric, turned up on E-bay today as a 1793 Manchester transport token, apparently. Hope this has helped. (Current bid £1.99)
