Hi Philip,I have aquestion regarding the coin catalog.I was looking up my caligula(rev. vesta S C )and noticed that #3001 and #3003 apear to be identical but one is rated scarce and the other common.So what is the differance? Best Regards Steve R.

No, they are not identical. The obverse legend on 3003 was wrongly entered in the database. For Caligula CC# 3003 the obverse legend is actually -
"C CAESAR DIVI AVG PRON AVG P M TR P III P P" and it is "Scarce". The 3001 has legend "C CAESAR AVG GERMANICVS PON M TR POT" and it is common for Caligula but in general it is not an easy to find coin. Now, thanks to you the problem is fixed :-). We try to avoid such errors but we also depend on people like you who spend the time to give us some constructive feedback and help us find any such errors.

I signed on to this site to find out about a unique (although not ancient) coin that i found in my grandfather's collection after he had died in 1980----not to have my computer fill up with viruses and spams from ****ing porn videos....excuse my french but obviously there is someone asleep at the wheel here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
